Fight 2
Steve Muldrow of Cincinnati, OH representing Team Vision
(WINNER BY SPLIT DECISION)
Vs.
Tim “The Machine” Cook of New Albany, IN representing Full
Moon MMA
Round 1 – Tim Cook is part of the newly formed Full Moon MMA
team coached by Brent Maddox of the Louisville Fire Arena Football team. Cook
receives a nice response from the crowd as he enters the cage and he starts the
action off with a nice leg kick. Muldrow throws some nice combos but does not
manage to land them effectively. Muldrow takes the fight to the ground and gets
to half guard, but Tim Cook utilizes the butterfly guard to throw Muldrow off
of him. Muldrow immediately grabs Cook and slams him back to the mat only to be
thrown again from Cook’s butterfly guard. The fighters again engage standing
and Cook lands a nice knee to the head and some more heavy strikes. Advantage
Muldrow in this round, call it 10-9
Round 2 – Muldrow is able to take Cook down again, but for a
third time Cook utilizes an open guard to neutralize Muldrow’s ground and
pound. This time Cook nearly secures a kimura, but after a scramble Muldrow
gains full mount only to be swept by Cook. Cook then secures a full mount of
his own and is able to land some effective heavy strikes. The crowd loves it
and Cook nearly sinks the rear naked choke. Cook looked good this round, I say
Cook 10-9.
Round 3 – Cook starts off the action with some nice kicks,
and after the fighters tie up, Cook pulls the fight down to his guard. Cook
attempts another kimura, that goes nowhere and the fighters return to their
feet where Cook lands a nice jump knee to the head of Muldrow who responds with
another take down and seems to be able to take Cook down at will. I call this
round 10-9 Cook again but the judges are split and the decision goes to
Muldrow.

Vs.
Rob “The Ironman” Smith of Louisville, KY representing
Louisville MMA
Round 1 – This fight pits two local teams with a history of
rivalry in a battle for the Amateur Featherweight Championship. Both fighters
get a good reaction from the crowd. Smith scores a takedown, but gives up his
back to the taller Recktenwald who sinks in a body triangle while his opponent
takes the fight back up to his feet. Recktenwald holds onto his body triangle
and works diligently for about two minutes from that position to finally secure
the rear naked choke and the Featherweight Championship at 2:55 of round 1.

Round 1 – Josh Clark starts off with some solid strikes that
can be heard across the cage, and appears to control the action, but Pinkston
launches into a flurry and manages to secure a mount although he is not able to
do a lot with the superior position. Pinkston steal the round 10-9.
Round 2 – The fight goes to the mat and not a lot comes of
the tangle, but Clark gets back to his feet and lands a knee that it appears
scores a flash knockout of Pinkston but there is no stoppage and Clark moves in
to dish some more strikes but backs away and Pinkston is not able to continue
when he tries to stand back up. Winner by TKO is Josh Clark..

kick and the two displayed some great jiu jitsu but Florez had the better
ground game.

Fight 6
Bryan Goldsby of Macon, GA representing Rush MMA
(WINNER TKO REF STOPPAGE ROUND TWO)
Vs.
Matt Troyer of Louisville, KY representing Louisville MMA
Round 1 – Matt Troyer is looking to get Louisville MMA their
first win of the night and the crowd is really behind him as he enters the cage.
Both fighters let the hands go and land some heavy shots. Troyer scores a nice
throw but the fight goes nowhere on the ground and gets stood back up. Troyer
seems to be on the losing end of the heavy striking exchange and seems to be
slightly caught off-guard by the heavy hands of Goldsby.
Round 2 – Round two starts off a little slow, but after a
strong body blow by Troyer Goldsby takes it back to the ground where the fight
again stalls. When the fighters get back to their feet, Goldsby suddenly
unleashes and the blood flies onto the press table, but Troyer still will not
go down. The referee sees Troyer in trouble and decides to stop the fight.
Goldsby wins a battle with the younger of the Troyer brothers.

representing Louisville MMA
Vs.
Robert “The Ironman” Thompson of Macon, GA representing Rush
MMA
(WINNER BY KO IN ROUND ONE)
Round 1 – The crowd has some boos for Thompson and Ray
charges in immediately and appears to rattle Thompson who backs up to the fence
and unleashes a hook that catches Ray perfectly on the chin. Ray crumples to
the mat and when the referee steps in he is obviously confused and grabs the
referee’s leg. Some nice striking by both fighters, it is a shame to see this one
end so quickly.

exchange some knees in the clinch and go to the ground.

Fight 9
Dustin “The Beast” Neace of Indianapolis, IN representing
Integrated Fighting
Vs.
Brian “Duke” Geraghty of Milwaukee, WI representing Strasser Freestyle Academy
(WINNER BY SUBMISSION KO IN ROUND THREE)
Round 1 – Neace works a slam but no one gets much done on
the ground until Duke secures a triangle that looks deep but does not stop
Neace.
Round 2 – Neace takes the fight down again, but gives up his
back. Neace works a sweep to get into Geraghty’s guard and lands some elbows
but the fight again stalls in Geraghty’s guard. Neace scores some body shots,
but neither fighter does a lot of damage.
Round 3 – The fight again goes to the ground and appears to
stall again but Duke works the triangle again. This time Neace does not defend
it and is put to sleep in a rare submission KO. Geraghty’s patience with the
ground game was simply too much for Neace.

Fight 10 Main Event
John Troyer of Louisville, KY representing Louisville MMA
Vs.
Alex “El Toro” Andrade of Dallas, TX representing TRALEX
Fight Team
(WINNER BY UNANYMOUS DECISION)
Round 1 – The crowd roars for the champ as enters the cage.
Troyer comes out swinging and lands some really nice combos including a four
shot combo that rocked Andrade. Andrade does not appear to be willing to engage
despite showing no real ill effects from Troyer’s heavy hands. Suddenly Andrade
is staggered by a solid face shot and takes the fight to the ground with a
slam. Troyer lands some good shots from his back but Andrade nearly secures a
toe hold to end the round. I think Troyer takes this round.
Round 2 – Andrade comes out strong, getting the better of
the strikes from Troyer’s guard. A scramble at the end of the round ends with
Troyer in a leg lock that is ineffective and Troyer shrugs to his corner and
waits out the bell. This round was all Andrade.
Round 3 – Troyer lands some strikes and Andrade again takes
the fight to the ground. Troyer seems unable to stop the takedowns and neither
fighter manages a lot of offense on the ground. Andrade takes another round.
Round 4 – The crowd starts to chant for Troyer after Andrade
again takes the fight to the ground. Troyer is landing some good elbows from
the guard and manages to open a nice cut over Andrade’s eye. I give this round
to Troyer, despite Andrade’s takedowns; Troyer gets better of the striking and
does more damage.
Round 5 – With the fight close, either fighter could take it
with a solid round; but, Andrade uses his superior takedown skills to negate
Troyer’s offense. There is no real action and Andrade utilizes the infamous lay
and pray offense smothering Troyer on the ground and controlling the round for
the apparent win. The judges all agree and the Andrade takes the 185 title from
the hometown champ.
